petertravers 11/18/16 Congrats to my Popcorn guest Josh Groban for winning deserved raves for his Broadway debut in the electropop musical “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.” He plays Pierre. When he’s not acting in movies (“The Hollars”) or co-hosting “Live With Kelly,” Groban is a global singing superstar (“You Raise Me Up,” “The Prayer”) who has sold over 25 million records and continually fills concert halls with devoted fans. His most recent CD, “Stages,” is packed with show tunes that reflect his love of Broadway and it traditions. And now he’s living the dream nightly in an immersive production that puts audiences practically in his lap. But watch your cell phones, if you buy a ticket. Groban gets angry in character as Pierre. “Let me tell you something, you don’t want to piss off Pierre. He is drunk and ornery.” Josh himself is anything but. It was a pleasure geeking out with him. And when he ends the show with an acapella version of “Smile,” you really will hear the voice of an angel.
